Heres one I found if you click on Revs pics there is a pic of the mod.Its a ink pen spring cut to fit holding the pads away from the rotor to reduce drag.

Here is another pic of the springs installed. Ignore the spur gear if you can

IMO The gear teeth just get worn out after a while. Unless your clutch shoes are worn down to the metal making enough extra heat in the pinion gear to melt the spur gear.

Less distraction from CF or worn parts (just a bright yellow sticker and awfull purple). You can use the springs of a rollerball pen. Just cut the spring about 2mm longer than the space between the brake pads.

I average about 2-3 gallons per spur but I run it in the sand.
Are the pinion gear teeth in good shape, you might want to change that too. I usually replace both gears.

I'm A little off topic but... I've been doing a little research while i'm waiting for my SS kit to come in, and i've seen that EXACT spur gear quite a bit, are the steel/metal worth the 80-90$, not sure how much the stock ones are, but if there cheap enough?

Some guys like the steel gears but I would rather replace a $5-7 part thats plastic then those gears.. Most Spur gear wear is because of bad meshing with the pinion and spur gear or the pinion has to much play it it.. Or sometimes sand and other things rocks etc can get up in there and destroy the spur

The stock plastic ones are cheap, just keep a few on hand so when it goes you can change it quick and keep running.
The metal ones are different sizes so you can change the gear ratio with them.

This is off the topic a bit, sorry...
I agree completely on using the plastic spur gear as it's easy to replace and cheap.
Regarding bad mesh...I have two RTR and both had very tight pinion/spur mesh out of the box which loosened up after about two tanks of fuel. Is there any effective way to adjust the pinion/spur mesh on the Baja? The engine to differential distance appear to be fixed and the aluminum spur plate also maintains a fixed distance between the pinion and the spur, so I don't see how the mesh can be adjusted like on all my nitro RCs. Relating to this issue is the use of pinions with more (or less) teeth, going to a larger pinion could make the mesh too tight for smooth engagement.
Back on topic...
The brake spring mod works beautifully. I do this to just about all the RCs which do not rely on ESCs for braking.
