Question Automatic Watches... What Brand, Movement Etc??

Ok for all you "watch experts" out there and I am sure there are a few.. I am looking to get a new watch sometime soon, but I am sick and tired of buying batteries.. I've got a few "what I think are nice" Fossil Watches, they weren't cheap a few years ago, I've got a few Chronographs and the others are just Regular movement. All are Stainless Steel Case, Bracelet types.. But I am sick and tired of buying batteries.

They do last a year or so but none the less I would like something else.. I've been looking at the Fossil brand Automatics, also Timex has a few nice ones.. Also I cant stop watching Shop NBC they have some really NICE Invicta, Android, Stuhrling, Automatic watches.. I just am not sure what to go with.. Can anyone feed me some advice or info on Automatics??

Hey Chris automatic watches are nice i have a rolex that i want to sell but if you are looking for accurate watch then stay with a quartz watch i have an oceanaut pacha cobra that i absolutely love and the accuracy is amazing its only off by maybe 2 seconds a year hard to believe i know but its amazing automatic watches are accurate to 3 seconds a day which is considered very good i guess it all depends on what you want me personally i prefer a good quartz.

Ok..

I got some of that But the rest was Chinese

Quartz, different movements etc I am lost..

Can ya explain or throw up some links defining the different ones??

What brands should I be looking at, and what brands should I stay away from? I am guessing for the most part you get what you pay for right??

Well quartz takes a battery my watch last 2 to 3 years it all depends on what you want to spend dont get me wrong auotomatics are works of art but as far as accuracy goes quartz is the way to go and alot cheaper to.

Cool! I am digging them too I've been watching Shop NBC for the last 4-5 nights.. Its hard not hitting the check out button!! They have some sweet Invicta's.. I am digging the Pro Diver's.. Those 1K + ones are killing me but those "Value Pays" are calling me too!!

Thanks guys I guess I just need to freaking decide which one and how much I want to spend..

Who ever said you can't have an automatic watch that isn't accurate?

IMO Seiko makes the best watches in the world. They're pricey but you won't regret it if you buy one.

I've had my mind around and Omega Seamaster with Co-Axial Escapement for quite a while now but $3,000+ has been keeping me back!

I've been looking at the Seamasters Aqua Terra Chrono or the Planet Ocean Chrono line...

They average about 52 - 55 hours of power reserve.

Yeah exactly, it's the quarts crystal oscillator that keeps the accuracy within 10 seconds a year at best. The fact that it doesn't need a battery to do that makes it even more impressive.

I'm sure Fast Eddy will chime in here. He collects watches too.

I have a med price Seiko Kinetic watch i got 12 yrs ago and i t has what you call motion quartz it doesn't have a batt. it uses the movement for your arm to spin a weight and it transfers that to a power cell that runs the watch. As if it had a batt.

I have took it off for at least 5 days and picked it up and it still was keeping time. I have never had to get anywork done to it at all

I like the Seiko kinetic divers watches...probably one of the best daily wear watches around...very accurate and durable with decent prices.

My dad gave me a Seiko Kinetic about 6 years ago its still holding its time and I can leave it on the desk for days and its still ticking away.. I'd go for a Seiko they aren't to expensive..

Chris if ya stopped hoarding all those Baja parts and sold some of your stash you keep collecting you could buy a couple Seiko Watches

My lady bought me a Citizen eco drive.
It's a great watch I highly recommend it.
I did find out that if you don't wear an automatic watch all the time it goes dead.

I've got two of the eco-drives. Great watch and keeps perfect time. Plus my other watches, including a Festina. The eco-driives are cool. Leave them in a drawer for a few weeks out of sun light. As soon as you take them out they reset to the right time.
