CY GP460 Engine
Has anyone attempted to install one of these in a Baja? With the right porting and exhaust, I imagine it could be a real powerhouse.

Let me know some feedback on this... I might just be dumb enough to try it.

Do a search about it. Somebody mentioned doing that before and was told the motor is way to big to fit.

Engine Stats: Displacement: 45.7cc. Power: 4.2+HP @11,000 RPM, 2.35 lb/ft torque @8,000 RPM. Fuel: 91 octane or higher mixed 25:1 with 2-stroke oil.
Looks like it would only just engage the clutch then run out of RPM...

11k is where it makes peak power... the Fuelie 23 is rated at 2.0@13500... and it can still make decent power up to 16000 rpm with the right exhaust.
An oversquare engine like that (42mm bore x 33mm stroke) should be capable of some pretty decent RPM.

Probably because the conventional ZEN, CY 23 and 26cc motors do a great job on the Baja. Of course there are 27.2, 29 and 30.5 etc motors.
If you wanted to use anything else that has not been used, you would have to come up with a custom build. IMHO not worth the trouble. The best has been used and proven.... the usable motors have been used and tested, they are just drop in motors and perform....... why look for something else that does not even fit?

Too Big...I had posted a photo of the two side by side awhile back. If I still had the photo it would put an end to your idea. The 460 is WAY bigger!

Its just a shame the amount of money one needs to shell out for that level of performance. Not to mention the potential for power given the displacement. I would love to see a torque/hp dyno on that GP460, I bet the power under the curve would rival even some of the big name builders out there.
But then again, your right if it doesnt fit its not worth the aggrevation. For that reason, I have a shiny new CY GP290 sitting here as we speak.

Thats what I wanted to hear, too bad you dont have the picture still.
I think I read somewhere the 460 weighed in in the 8-10lb range.
