not much gain there, but there is a little. Looks like it makes power a little sooner but at peak it's actually lower (by a cunt hair)....

So? HP went down .02 and torque went up .09 all at lower RPM's. What kind of #'s would we be looking to see a noticeable gain or loss? Would boost bottle design make a difference?

Hey Matt, how many pulls did you do for each? With just that small a difference, I am just curious to see if it fluctuates much, or if that is pretty much a good representation of what you get (or don't get).

Nice test though, I think that pretty much puts that whole thing to bed.

Looks to me that power above 8200 rpm, about where my clutch engages, is better without the boost bottle.

Ted, I made 10 runs. I optimized the tune on each setup in four runs, took the best of each and overlayed them for the above charts.

Great test ,i was about to buy one but sounds like it's steeling fuel at top end, might help the over-fueling of the 813 carb though

Interesting....

I would be curious to know how well as case reed would perform with a boost bottle.

I heard that the boost bottle was originally designed to work with the reed engine.

Thanks for running this test lunatik! For a long time I've been a skeptic and I've wanted some actual numbers rather than the "It seems faster off the line" (seat of the pants) bs that people have posted on this subject.

Consider that the clutch comes into play about 7 or 8 grand. The extra torque these graphs show would be spinning in the bell before the buggy moves. According to the dyno, I see almost nothing but loss. From what I know about boost bottels (not a lot of detail), you don't see the benifits of them with wide open runs only. Dynos don't measure things like throttle response and partical throttle opening very often, and a user might find a small benifit when actually running on the ground. Gotta say though---according to these graphs--it does not look good, and the throttle response of a well tuned RC engine is pretty good.
