Looks like they beat hpi to it. Finally gas power has been brought to the 8th scale world!

Dang. Looks like I may never touch another electric again since these gas powered models are moving right on down the scales!

I like the idea of the gas 1/8th scale monster trucks but I'm going to wait for awhile. Run my Revo into the ground then see what turns out to be the better gas monster truck, Octane or LST XXL.

Be interesting to see if they even touch it. A 5cc motor is going to be a little harder to work on than a 30.5.

No kidding , HPI is really dropping the ball. over 6 years since the baja was released and they haven't come out with anything new in the gas area.

"besides the 5t and 5sc which are just a couple extra parts that were added to the original design"

They better have one heck of a trick under there sleeve or losi will be running this train.

Nothing wrong with losi! Great people. Was a local sponsored racer for them for a few years in short course.

I was looking at some pictures of this, and those servos hanging off the bottom of the chassis don't look like they will last long...

Small gas engines are a pain to keep cool so tuneing is a nightmare had a os 15cc in a heli JUNK no power you want 1/8 scale combustion models stay nitro

So the Octane is supposed to have a 15cc motor according to the info from a year ago. Is the Losi really only a .31 (5cc)?

Actually they are suspended between the 2 chassis plates just like the LST2 and the XXL. I have had my LST2 for over 7 years and it's on its 4th engine (LRP Z30) and it still kicks ass as a Nitro Monster Truck. The servos are very well protected in the location they are in. My concern with the new gasoline model is the power output. I see an electronic ignition module like the planes use but at .32 displacement running gasoline I don't think the power output will be any where near what a nitro engine has. I can't remember what manufacturer had it but there is a 10cc gasoline engine that has been around for awhile for aircraft. Maybe Losi engineered something of a wonder to squeeze more rpms and power out of gasoline from a small mill. Just have to wait and see as I don't want to drop $799 just to try it out. Heck I just picked up a Kyosho Inferno GT2 race spec for Christmas that I haven't had a chance to run yet, let alone a new gas monster truck!
