I'm personally hoping for an HPI 1/5 4WD SC by 2013. I think Traxxas may actually beat them to it.
Traxxas makes very good products and has the fire power to come out with new, cutting edge technology. Associated may also jump on the 1/5 scale wagon. It'll be interesting...

somebody needs to make an announcement soon... HPI (or even Traxxas), we close on the house at the end of the month so I'm buying me a new toy! I want a 1/5 scale truck (preferably 4x4)! at this point it's either going to be the 5SC SS special edition or the 5ive (gotta admit it looks pretty sweet and Losi makes good stuff)!

however both the new models are based on the savage, so you could get both and make a 1/5 4x4 gasser :P
What's the 1/8 scale gasser this guy is talking about?

Just my suspicion since Losi and Associated have been fierce competitors for many years, way before Traxxas made their claim to fame with their Revo 1/10 gas monster truck. Associated has had a solid line of products for years.

Ya I have three of them and they've been side lined ever since the baja came in to the picture . Really tired of braking parts every time I run them. In short I'm no longer a traxxas fan.

well Christmas has came and went and still no news from hpi about a 1/5 scale 4x4

As much as don't want to admit it, may be it's time to think losi.
It's really disappointing hpi seems to be falling further and further behind in the game.
The one big draw back for me is horizon won't let ddm sell the losi. Those guys at ddm have always been good to me and I don't want to go any were else.

so whats a guy to do ?

If hpi would just get off the fence it would solve every thing (for me any way).

If HPI came out with a 4x4 I would be in for sure. Or if Team Associated came out with 1/5th 4x4 I woulda already pre-ordered one.

In the mean time of seeing what the companies are doing I think MCD is much more capable than Losi.

I would defiantly be in for a team associated 1/5 scale 4x4 gasser. I've got a sc 8 and that thing is bullet proof.

I agree! I have been running a lot this last couple weeks with a friend who has a Baja and a Losi and the
More I run with him the more I really want a 4x4; and if HPI doesn't announce something by the time I come up with the funds for one I am going to have to go Losi.

sounds like you might be thinking you'll have to "settle" for the losi.

Losi makes great cars and the way the vendors here are jumping on the aftermarket parts, you'll prob be able to hop up that 5ive as much as a baja by the time you have funds saved up.

No I just thought that it would be best to have an HPI 4x4 so I can have interchangeable parts. I have 4 bajas and didn't want to have to buy parts for a different. But to the defense of the Losi, I have seen first hand this thing take a beating and you just can't break it.

For the hpi it would have to be completely re designed so probably very little if any part would be interchangeable anyways.

Ya I saw that but it is a longer, bigger version of the savage chassis and not a 2 cycle. They also had an electric of this chassis and an electric 5b
