the large scale community is a small one and always had been. With facebook on the rise its easier to check posts there while you post about the latte you got from starbucks.

I prefer forums, but your best to look at FB groups to find something that suits your area/usage

could not agree more. I don't know which I hate more, Starbucks or facebook. I remember this forum when it was still small back in 06. Almost everyone knew each other. Members were helpful and respected each other. Those days are unfortunately gone. Lots of trolls and haters now. Very sad.

I like to read there answers on Facebook but not much is what I consider to be right
And I try sometimes to answers but it doesn't go well so I stay on this side of the fence
And have gone back to 1/8 nitro just to go racing

if you read through most of theese posts on here will answer your questions you might have.
it sure was real busy a few years ago but most have gone on to other things and that is why this forum is slowly dieing.

A lot of things have caused change in HBF and things are slow yes but its not just the forum. Yeah FB has done a lot to slow the forum down but the one thing I love about the forum is you don't loose anything. If you post something in a FB group aside from notifications there is no real good way to keep or save that information.. Its a PITA IMO..
I use FB to keep in touch with friends and family I cant see on the daily otherwise I really don't do FB much either..
Welcome back bro!!

I've been popping in and out of this forum for years, as I've popped in and out of RC, and I'm surprised to see how quiet this forum is these days.

I don't get how FB replaces forums at all. But then again, I'm well over 40 and not in my early twenties I guess. lol

The User Groups on FB seem to be just full of pictures and a lot of junk opinions with very little fact or good info; and what little info that is there is almost impossible to find or search out. Forums are still the best way format for valuable discussion and searching of relevant information.

Or am I missing something? are we seeing a slow down in forum activity because 1/5th had its heyday and is now dying a slow death?

No Facebook for me, thanks.

It is a small community. I don't know anyone locally who has one but me. Can't really run it in the neighborhood. Not that the neighbors would mind but every kid on the block can hear it and wants to race it on their bikes, which is when I put it away.

I have many RC things and I tend to talk about whatever things I'm running at the time. I don't run my Bajas as much as my other things. Now that the weather is finally nice again, I've been running mine a lot more so here I am.

More 1/5 scale offerings out there now too.

where did everyone go

The economy is not helping it no money no building
And it slows down to a crawl
The tracks closing doesn't help also East coast nationals gone and now powerjam gone it was the largest 1/5 race in the world
Now it's Canada turn to carry the 1/5 torch

it makes sense that the weak economy has a very strong negative effect on expensive hobbies like 1/5th scale RC. there is a significant jump in price to get into 1/5th when most bashers and racers are more than happy with 1/8th or even 1/10th off-road gear...

That said, have other 1/8th scale forums slowed down as much as this one, or is the Baja slipping in popularity due to competition from newer vehicles form the likes of Losi and even Kraken?

HPI may need to step up their game, or just give up on 1/5th all together....
