2015 Dunetoberfest

We regret to inform everyone that HBF will not be holding Dunetoberfest this year. We submitted the permit request 7 months ago within the 6-9 month timeline as they requested to get nothing but the run around from the BLM. At this time we will be looking into a new west coast event on non BLM owned land. If anyone has suggestions or has a venue to host an event please let us know. For those on the East Coast HBF will be holding a sand event at Silver Lake at a later date. We apologize for the bad news everyone.

Hard to answer, I just checked on a couple of OHV areas north of Mojave, Dove Springs, California City, the BLM OWNS THE WEST! One thing, around here another BLM Field Office rules, Ridgecrest, they might be friendlier. Red Rock Canyon State Park, just south of Dove Springs, possibly, but it has a small campground and I've heard it isn't favorable for large RV's. I'll scout it this weekend. Sean is familiar with all of these areas, too.

It is usually in Glamis right? Have you considered Dumont? Maybe Amargosa Valley dunes? Glamis is harder to get a permit at

A Lot of the problem occured after a organized desert race went bad. Someone got killed, lots injured. BLM got hammered because only one agent was on duty for a big race. And, of course, this was in California.

It doesn't matter that we're running relatively small RC trucks and buggies. Right now, it could be a organized pillow fight. BLM want's out of it, in California at least.

Not making excuses for BLM, but, 1. They are underfunded 2. The race 4 years ago or so 3. So who is going to come up with the money. King of the Hammers can for now in Johnson Valley, and I think that is joint State an BLM. Anyone else... I heard last year the CHP REALLY came down on Glamas. Lot's of trailers had to stay. Mostly because the trailers were too heavy for the vehicle hitch.

Notice most off road events on BLM land happen in Nevada or Arizona now?

Yeah but Glamis is worsethan say somewhere like dumont, since they are different field offices. FSA use to have quad dragsin Glamis and Dumont, now they only run in Dumont because of the issues getting approved.
